SSJ100 SN 95004 has successfully passed HIRF testing in Italy

November 24, 2010, Turin (Italy)

The Sukhoi Superjet 100 SN 95004 has successfully completed HIRF testing program in Italy. Tests were accomplished in Turin-Caselle airport, at the Alenia Aeronautica facilities.  The preliminary results show that the aircraft meets all certification requirements regarding HIRF (High Intensity Radiated Field Tests).

The Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) is the first Russian aircraft to accomplish the full scope of the certification HIRF testing program. Its methodology was elaborated by the SCAC engineering team in collaboration with Alenia Aeronautica, a Finmeccanica Company, with further approval of the Interstate Aviation Committee Aviation Register (AR IAC) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

In September the experts of the European certification authorities approved Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company’s testing methodology in part of equipment evaluation, systems testing.

HIRF certification is required to demonstrate that the aircraft’s electric and electronic equipment is not influenced by external electromagnetic fields like those produced by a TV or radio station or by a radar. The following methods were used to conduct testing: Low Level Swept Current, Low Level Swept Frequency, Bulk Current Injection and High Intensity Radiated Field.

The representatives of AR IAC and key certification centres took part in the most important stages of the tests. Completion of HIRF tests is an important milestone of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 Certification Program. Our airliner is the first Russian aircraft that has compliance with international standards in this domain.
Recently during flight tests under supervision of Russian and European certification authorities SSJ100 has successfully passed noise testing program. This joint effort will definitely contribute to harmonization of certification standards of Russia and Europe, as well as the successful entrance of our product into the international market», – said Igor Vinogradov, SCAC’s SVP on Certification, commenting the finalization of the HIRF testing program.

SSJ100 was presented to the “UTair” airlines in Khanty-Mansyisk

November 22, 2010, Khanty-Mansyisk

Sukhoi Superjet 100 was presented to the “UTair” airlines in Khanty-Mansiysk. The aircraft SN 95005 arrived to Yugra airport the day before. The aircraft was fully equipped with the cabin and galley equipment in compliance with the serial configuration.

At the UTAir press-conference on fleet renewal strategy, the airline, which belongs to the top four Russian carriers, confirmed its intention to get 24 aircraft SSJ100 95B to replace the fleet of Tu-134.

Today we are working on the deal. Deliveries are scheduled for 2013. It is extremely important for us to provide the customer with the opportunity of seeing with its own eyes that SSJ100 is the best offer in the segment. Our aircraft surpasses its competitors in operational economy by 8-10%, being unique in terms of comfort for passengers and pilots» – said Mikhaill Pogosyan, the General Director of Sukhoi Company on the presentation of SSJ100 in Khanty-Mansyisk.

The SSJ100 aircraft fully meets the airline’s technical and economic requirements. The aircraft’s compliance to high ecological standards of noise level and emissions is very important for us as well. Operation of SSJ100 within our fleet will boost the «UTair’s» dynamic growth expanding domestic and foreign routes network and increasing capacities. In the long run it will make our airline more competitive at the growing passenger market» – said the General Director of «UTAir» Andrey Martirosov.

Russian and Canadian pilots have completed Flight Testing

November 19, 2010, Zhukovski

Together with Canadian and Russian certification authorities, Flight Testing of the CMA-9000 Flight Management System (FMS) was performed on the Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100). The FMS is developed and manufactured by Esterline CMC Electronics (formerly known as Canadian Marconi Company) and integrated by Thales Avionics on the SSJ100.

“All activities required for the CAN-TSO certification of the CMA-9000 were successfully completed on the SSJ100”, said Nick Chalkiadakis, FMS Program Manager from Esterline CMC Electronics. Canadian and Russian pilots performed 3 joint flights on SSJ100, as well as 6 sessions on the Electronic Bird test bench to evaluate the operational suitability of the system. In order to evaluate the system capability to follow the vertical trajectory, the experts conducted thorough checks of vertical navigation function. These verifications are required to ensure safety and aircraft performance in dense air traffic operations.

Transport Canada’s Flight Test Division work with manufacturers to conduct, monitor and review flight tests of Canadian and foreign manufactured aircraft or avionics systems for which Canadian type certification is requested.

“Transport Canada participated in a successful flight test program with the cooperation of Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company. We thank Sukhoi for their warm welcome and for working with us in completing this important Flight Management System certification activity,” – said Waldemar Krolak and Michel Brulotte, Canadian certification authorities involved in the FMS flight testing.

Sukhoi Superjet 100 Certification Program is progressing towards completion

November 08, 2010

Sukhoi Superjet 100 certification campaign is successfully progressing towards completion. All major certification flight programs are accomplished. The prototypes have gained 2245 flight hours in 948 flights.

On October 28 the aircraft 95003 returned from Iceland after a month testing for operation in side winds, having fully confirmed its compliance with certification requirements at side wind speed up to 15m/sec. Keflavík International Airport is situated at the Atlantic coast of Iceland. Its runways are built at 90 degrees angle each other, so when the wind follows the direction of one runway, it causes side wind at another one bringing the possibility tο conduct test landings іn side wind, nο matter whісh direction thе wind blows.

Because of its unique wind conditions, Keflavik Airport is widely used for side wind testing by the European and American manufacturer. Keflavik has been used for side winds testing by A380 and B787.

Along with side winds testing program, the aircraft has successfully performed a series of testing for CATII landing, which is enough to get the Type Certification. Preparation to CATIIIA testing is in progress.

In Zhukovsky Flight Test Center SCAC engineers successfully completed air stairs and cargo compartment equipment testing.

We’ve already gone through the most challenging testing certification programs.
As per our estimations our team has already covered 90% of the overall certification testing scope. Now we are finalizing avionics safety failure testing, EMC, HIRF with emergency evacuation testing to follow”, – said Igor Vinogradov, SVP Certification.
